Facta, non verba Latin. Fail early and fail fast. Failure is life that tries to direct us to another path. Failure is the seed of success. Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at a job worth doing. Fast work is a shame for the master. Favouring both hands identically the employee and the customer is the only key to success for the company. Fear is a great teacher.

Feedback is the breakfast of champions. Fidelity: It is better to go further with someone than nowhere with everyone. Figure out what you mean and you are halfway to measuring it. Finally the absolute foundation of Perfambiance is the quality of relationships among people within the company. Finding and fixing problems is everybody's job. Flamma fumo est proxima Latin. For me a great leader is an enabler and a facilitator. Forty-three million analog customers can't be wrong. Freedom and democracy include participation and therefore responsibility from us all. Freedom and responsibility are two sides of the same coin - you can't have one without the other at least not for long.

Freedom begins where ignorance ends. Freedom generates invention, innovation, and productivity. Freedom is about being able to do anything that does not harm others. Freedom is the great motivating power of individual human beings. Freedom is the overcoming of the constraint by innovation. Freeing the spirit of initiative necessarily involves a dedramatization of error. From discussion flows light. Games in general create motivation. Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped. Get down the center of gravity of the decisions.

Get the ''right'' people owning the ''right'' responsibilities to take the ''right'' actions. Get the facts, analyze them and then do what seems right. Give me a fulcrum and a lever, and I will lift the world. Give people the ability and authority to get things done, and hold them accountable for the results. Given control over quality, the operator is much more apt to care about producing a quality product.

Given the right environment, there are few limits to what people can achieve. Goals give meaning to life. Good companies will tell you how they collect employee suggestions. Great companies will tell you how they use it. Good ideas are always crazy until they're not. Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment. Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment. Good management is the art of making problems so interesting and their solutions so constructive that everyone wants to get to work and deal with them.

Good news walks, bad news runs. Goodwill can not be bought. Goodwill can not be decreed, nor can it be obtained by constraint. Simply because it depends on everyone's freedom. Gratitude is an extremely important but badly ignored aspect of emotional and organizational health. Great companies have great purposes. Great hierarchies don't make great organizations. Great leaders are great teachers. And great teachers are great storytellers. Great leadership is not solving problems after the fact, but foreseeing potential problems and eliminating them before they occur.

Great products are great only when customers buy them. Great things in business are never done by one person. They're done by a team of people. Happiness at work is based on three key elements: the passion for one's job, the feeling of being useful to society and the feeling of gratitude, especially by one's hierarchy. Happiness begins where unhappiness ends. Happiness can not be decreed.

Happiness cannot be pursued; it ensues as the result of living a life of meaning and purpose. Happiness causes success and achievement, not the opposite. Happiness does not come without pleasure. Happiness in the workplace is a strategic advantage. Happiness is a childhood dream realized in adulthood. Happiness is a direction, not a place. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Happiness is an objective dimension of all our experience. Happiness is being able to choose, decide, be with others and for others. Happiness is contagious.

Happiness is feeling good, and misery is feeling bad. Happiness is greater than or equal to your perception of life minus your expectations as to the course of your life. Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product. Happiness is not having what you want but wanting what you have. Happiness is not the belief that we don't need to change; it is the realization that we can.

Happiness is the byproduct of things such as living a life of meaning and purpose, service to others, striving for excellence, growing as an individual, friendship, parenting, love, and generosity. Happiness is the center around which success orbits. Happiness is the joy we feel striving after our potential.

Happiness is the meaning and goal of life, the principle and purpose of human existence. Happiness is the only wealth that doubles if you share it.

Yours To Treasure

Happiness is to seek it. Happiness leads to success. Happiness lies in our freedom of choice and control of that choice. Happiness results from satisfactory love relationships, reliable and faithful friendships, the ability to enjoy the pleasures of life and a fulfilling and socially important work. Happiness, as before salvation, must be earned. Happiness: the extent to which an individual judge favorable his quality of life in general. Happy people feel in control of their lives.

Hard work without talent is a shame, but talent without hard work is a tragedy. Haste makes waste. Have a vision and translate that vision to everybody in the organization with passion and conviction. Have confidence: success will come with the involvement and effort of all! Have you got a problem? Do what you can where you are with what you've got. Having no problems is the biggest problem of all. He who asks a question may be a fool for five minutes, but he who never asks a question remains a fool forever.

He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches. He who doesn't risk never gets to drink champagne. He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how. He who has health is rich without knowing it. He who has no goals will not achieve them. Help the right people get the right information and they will do the right things. High-trust organizations are always high-purpose organizations. High-velocity organizations are constantly experimenting and learning more about all the work they do.

Hire the best people you can find. Create an atmosphere that will keep them. Then let them do their jobs. His whiskey was so extraordinary that when he drank it, he spoke Scottish. How wonderful that we have met with a paradox. Now we have some hope of making progress. However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results. Human decision-making is a terribly complicated matter. Humanity is divided into three categories: those who can not move, those who can move, and those who move.

I always tried to turn every disaster into an opportunity. I am easily satisfied with the very best. I believe that as a leader, one must have a true desire to serve in order to be effective. I came to see, in my time at IBM, that culture isn't just one aspect of the game; it is the game. I can live for two months on a good compliment! I did not fail. I just found 10, ways that do not work. I encourage everyone to find its role in the world because this is the definition of happiness.

I have chosen to be happy because it is good for my health. I have never met anyone who was against quality or for hassle. I never lose. I either win or learn. I only believe in statistics that I doctored myself. I pay my employees to buy my cars. I risk, therefore I am. I think, therefore I am. I wake up every morning at nine and grab for the morning paper.

Then I look at the obituary page. If my name is not on it, I get up. I've learned a lot and discovered nothing, yet. It's the process that provides the satisfaction. Ideas are everyone's business and the company must set up a system to manage them. Ideas need to be shared to be enhanced. Ideology is the renunciation of the intellect in favor of obedience to dogmas. If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.

Thank you for registering.

If a problem can be solved by money, it's not a problem, it is an expense. If all else fails, try the obvious. If anything can go wrong, it will. If beliefs can cure our body, they can surely help our spirit. If complexity leads to happiness, then simplification is tantamount to stupidity. If direct labor is much more than 5 percent of a manufactured product's cost, something must be wrong with the manufacturing process.

If employees aren't motivated, the fault is with managers and organizational practices, not the employees! If everything seems to be fine, you have probably overlooked something. If money does not make you happy, then give it back. If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable. If only part of society benefits from certain wealth, environmental depredation - an oil spill or a toxic radioactive cloud - strikes all social classes and crosses borders. If people aren't laughing at your ideas, you aren't being creative enough. If philosophy does not help us to be happy, or to be less unhappy, what is the use of philosophy?

If the company is not humanistic, it has no future. If the goal of man is to live happily in community, the company must contribute to realize it. If the only tool you have is a hammer, everything starts to look loke a nail. If we add a man to a delayed project, it will only add delay. If we agree that the bottom line of life is happiness, not success, then it makes perfect sense to say that it is the journey that counts, not reaching the destination.

If we are able to conceive of a failure as an opportunity for growth, we are all the more likely to experience that growth. If we do not like the men and women who are entrusted to us, we are not in our place. If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.

If you believe everything you read, better not read. If you buy quality, you only cry once. If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. If you can't think of a purpose for the process, you should probably get rid of the process. If you cannot describe what you are doing as a process, you do not know what you're doing. If you close the door to all errors, truth will stay outside. If you do not know how to ask the right question, you discover nothing.

If you do not progress every day, you decline every day. If you do not want anyone to know, it is even better not to do it. If you don't expect, measure, and reward great performance, you'll never get great performance. If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else. If you don't want to be criticized, don't do anything new. You'll learn what to measure. If you earn money talking, you win gold you shutting up.

If you empower people but don't give them information, they just fumble in the dark. If you look for trade-offs, you will always find them. If you put fences around people, you get sheep. If you take care of your employees they will take care of your business. If you think education is expensive, try ignorance. If you treat an employee as a teenager, he will behave like a teenager. If you treat your employees well, they will take care of your customers and your business.

If you want high efficiency and productivity, a close relationship with your employees, which leads to high morale, is necessary. If you want to be obeyed, give reasonable orders. If you want to build a boat, create, in the heart of your men, the desire of the sea. If you want to feel rich, you only have to count, of all the things you own, those that money can not buy. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, let us go together. If you want to judge a man's character, give him power.

If you want to kill innovation, reward it.

Voyage Of The Fallen

If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. If you want to move a mountain, start by removing the small stones. If you would know the value of money, go and try to borrow some. If you write, it means you do not act. If you're going through hell, keep going. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. If your company doesn't care, it will not be in business for long. Ignorance is never better than knowledge.

Ignorantia juris neminem excusat Latin.

To Help Your Marriage You need To Shift

Imagination is more important than knowledge: knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world. Implementing Lean concepts and principles is not a technological issue, it is primarily a management and human resource issue. Improve the environment for workers to be engaged and happy is one of the main responsibilities of management. Improvement usually means doing something that we have never done before. In England, everything is permitted except what is prohibited. In Germany everything is prohibited, except what as allowed. In France, everything is permitted, even that which is forbidden.

In the USSR everything is forbidden, even what is allowed. In a conscious business, customer happiness is an end in itself and is pursued with greater commitment, passion, and empathy than a profit-centered business can provide. In a liberated company, freedom rhymes with shared responsibility. In a liberated company, you do not lose control: you shared it. In a typical company, if you have a meeting, no matter how important it is there is always one party who is not represented: the customer.

In a vertical organization, information is power. In any case extra income increases happiness less and less as people get richer. In business, strategy ought to mean just one thing: generating a sustainable competitive advantage. In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity. In dreams begins responsibility.

In dubiis non est agendum Latin. In high-velocity organizations, functional integration is not just pretty talk, it is the nuts-and-bolts of management at all levels every day. In high-velocity organizations, people do not learn only for themselves. They learn for their colleagues as well. In high-velocity organizations, the response to problems is frequent, serious, and disciplined.

In management, there is no advice, there are no models. There is only testimony. In many areas, the winner is the one who is best informed. In most situations I am the problem. In order to systematically pursue joy in the name of offering delight to your customers, you must learn to look at the world through a lens that sees problems as opportunities. In pursuit of knowledge, every day something is acquired; in pursuit of wisdom, every day something is dropped. In self-managing structures, thousands of decisions are made everywhere, all the time. In the liberated company the boss attributes the good results to employees and failure to himself.

In the long term, the only sustainable source of competitive potential, is the ability of your organization to learn faster than the competition. In the race for quality, there is no finish line. Incorrect attitudes are a symptom of incorrect systems, structures, and practices. Individual energies are boosted when people identify with a purpose greater than themselves. Information reduces uncertainty about decisions that have economic consequences.

Innovation and progress are achieved only by those who venture beyond standard operating procedure. Innovation doesn't happen centrally, according to plan, but at the edges, all the time, when some organism senses a change in the environment and experiments to find an appropriate response. Innovation is creativity with a job to do. Innovation is everyone's business. Inspection does not improve quality, nor guarantee quality.

Instead of hiding your culture, change it. Integrity has no need of rules. Intelligence is the only resource that increases in value when shared. Intelligent management must be based on exact knowledge of facts. Investing in ergonomics is investing in the sustainability of the company. Involving collaborators implies giving meaning to the action on the basis of a vision.

Ipsa scientia potestas est Latin. It costs five times more to get a new customer than to keep an old one. It does not take everything to make a world. It takes happiness and nothing else. It is a serious mistake to think that money is the only way to compensate someone for their work. It is always a silly thing to give advice, but to give good advice is absolutely fatal. It is always cheaper to do the job right the first time. It is always the employees who make mistakes. The bosses, they experiment. It is arrogant to believe that anything we have created cannot be improved.

It is bad advice that cannot be changed. It is better to be approximately right than to be precisely wrong. It is better to be quiet and pass for an idiot than to speak and leave no doubt about it. It is better to be vaguely right than exactly wrong. It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. It is better to trust and risk being disappointed than to be constantly wary and always unhappy.

It is by stumbling that you learn to walk. It is difficult for individuals to resist a change decision in which they participated. It is easier to do a job right than to explain why you didn't.

It is impossible that one is happy if one does not want to be; we must want happiness and do it. It is in the fundamental process of confrontation with the problems and their resolution, that life finds its meaning. It is in the whole process of meeting and solving problems that life has meaning. It is much easier to apologize than it is to get permission. It is necessary to know how to multiply the micro-conflicts to reach a macro-stability. It is not enough to do your best; you must know what to do, and THEN do your best.

It is not the employer who pays wages, it is the customer. It is not the strongest or the most intelligent that survive, but those that adapt best to changes.

It is not trying to improve the candle that electricity was invented. It is strictly forbidden to forbid. It is the commitment that makes the performance and not the opposite. It is the lack of quality that is expensive.

It is with the heart that one sees rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. It really is possible to defy management orthodoxy and still run a successful business. It takes a lot of power to give it up, it takes very little to exhibit it. It takes two years to learn to speak and a lifetime to learn to remain silent. It was Toyota's way of designing and improving processes that generated both short-term stability and longer-term agility and responsiveness. It was only when I recognized that ''I am the problem'' that I was able to also become part of the solution.

It's a small step for a man, but a giant leap for Humanity. It's better to know you are in danger than to believe you are safe. It's better to run the risk of sharing too much information than leaving someone in the dark. It's easy to stop one guy, but it's pretty hard to stop It's in the team room that people's emotional investment grows. It's never too early to start the FMEA, it is sometimes too late to still present a real interest. It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer. It's not that people do not like to change, they do not like to be changed. It's only through other people's eyes that one can really see one's weakness.

It's the journey that counts, not the destination. Job satisfaction is an objective in itself, not a tool for profitability. Joy at work starts with individual initiative and individual control. Just as Mr Jordan was speaking prose without knowing it, every company practices quality approach. Just because the manager employs a large amount of energy does not mean that he gets a large amount of desired effect. Kaizen means ongoing improvement involving everybody, without spending much money. Keep the responsibility for performance with the performer, and the responsibility for empowering with the leader.

Keeping the number of layers to a minimum is important to make work fun. Kindness is the act of service to whoever asks us. Kindness is the language a deaf person can hear and a blind man can see. Knowing where you're going is the first step to get there. Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.

Knowledge is power, yes, but what leaders need is collective power, and that requires collective knowledge. Knowledge is power. Labour is not a commodity. Large groups of people are often smarter than the smartest people in them. Lead with questions, not answers. Leader's job is to get the people to be responsible for their own performance. Leaders add value by helping people feel powerful rather than helpless. Leaders by their actions, not by their words, establish the sense of justice within the organization.

Find Your Slime Ingredients Challenge!!!

Leaders don't need to be particularly charismatic to be effective. Leaders exercise tight control only on issues that affect the shared values of an organization. Leaders must all relate to this principle: the governed must be as happy as possible. Leaders own the responsibility for designing the context within which this desire for ownership takes place. Leaders who want to increase joy and success in the workplace must learn to take most of their personal satisfaction from the achievements of the people they lead, not from the power they exercise.

Leadership is a gift. You can't buy it, you can't sell it, you can't create it. Leadership is a way of life. Leadership is about humility and serving others. Leadership is an art that is born out of skills that must be practiced. Leadership is earned, not designated. Leadership is getting people to work for you when they are not obligated. Leadership is mostly the art of doing simple things very well. Leadership is much more an art, a belief, a condition of the heart, than a set of things to do.

Leadership is not about knowing the answer; it is the capacity to release the collective intelligence and insights of groups and organizations. Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions. Leadership is the ability to reveal, liberate and develop talents. Leadership is the process of creating and sustaining an environment in which people work together toward the achievement of common goals - and not because they have to, but because they want to. Leadership is thinking about the right things; management is doing things right.

Leading by example is not the best way to influence others, it is the only way. Lean is like a muscle; more it is used, the more it strengthens. Learn to fix the system, instead of fixing symptoms. Learning comes from doing, not talking. Learning is not compulsory. But neither is survival.

The storm may rage upon the coasts, but he who has God for his portion dwells in a quiet inland valley where tempests never come. No outer changes can touch our possession of God. They belong to another region altogether. Other goods may go, but this is held by a different tenure. The life of a Christian is lived in two regions: in the one his life has its roots, and its branches extend to the other.

In the one there may be whirling storms and branches may toss and snap, whilst in the other, to which the roots go down, may be peace. Root yourselves in God, making Him your truest treasure, and nothing can rob you of your wealth. We here in this commercial community see many examples of great fortunes and great businesses melting away like yesterday's snow. And surely the certain alternations of 'booms' and bad times might preach to some of you this lesson: Set not your hearts on that which can pass, but make your treasure that which no man can take from you.

Then, too, there is the other thought. God will help us so that no temptations shall have power to make us rob ourselves of our treasure. None can take it from us but ourselves, but we are so weak and surrounded by temptations so strong that we need Him to aid us if we are not to be beguiled by our own treacherous hearts into parting with our highest good. A handful of feeble Jews were nothing against the gigantic might of Assyria, or against the compacted strength of civilised Egypt; but there they stood, on their rocky mountains, defended, not by their own strength, but by the might of a present God.

And so, unfit to cope with the temptations round us as we are, if we cast ourselves upon His power and make Him our supreme delight, nothing shall be able to rob us of that possession and that sweetness. And there is just one last point that I would refer to here on this matter of our stable possession of God. It is very beautiful to observe that this psalm, which, in the language of my text, rises to the very height of spiritual and, in a good sense, mystical devotion, recognising God as the One Good for souls, is also one of the psalms which has the clearest utterance of the faith in immortality.

Just after the words of my text we read these others, in which the Old Testament confidence in a life beyond the grave reaches its very climax: 'Thou wilt not leave my soul in Sheol, neither wilt Thou suffer Thine holy one to see corruption. Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. The more we know that God is our portion and our treasure, the more sure, and calmly sure, we shall be that a thing like death cannot touch a thing like that, that the mere physical fact is far too small and insignificant a fact to have any power in such a region as that; that death can no more affect a man's relation to God, whom he has learned to love and trust, than you can cut thought or feeling with a knife.

The two belong to two different regions. Thus we have here the Old Testament faith in immortality shaping itself out of the Old Testament enjoyment of communion with God, with a present God. And you will find the very same process of thought in that seventy-third psalm, which stands in some respects side by side with this one as attaining the height of mystical devotion, joined with a very clear utterance of the faith in immortality: 'Whom have I in heaven but Thee, and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee!

Thou wilt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterwards receive me to glory. And his ministry is not to rob us of our treasures as he robs men of all treasures besides for 'their glory shall not descend after them' , but to give us instead of the 'earnest of the inheritance' -- the bit of turf by which we take possession of the estate -- the broad land in all the amplitude of its sweep, into our perpetual possession. And then the last thought here is that he who thus elects to find his treasure and delight in God is satisfied with his choice. I have no time to dwell upon the thoughts that spring from these words.

Take them in the barest outline. No man that makes the worse choice of earth instead of God, ever, in the retrospect, said: 'I have a goodly heritage. Portions of it may be fed with their appropriate satisfaction, but as long as we feed on the things of earth there will always be part of our being like an unfed tiger in a menagerie, growling for its prey, whilst its fellows are satisfied for the moment. You can no more give your heart rest and blessedness by pitching worldly things into it, than they could fill up Chat Moss, when they made the first Liverpool and Manchester Railway, by throwing in cartloads of earth.

The bog swallowed them and was none the nearer being filled. No man who takes the world for his portion ever said, 'The lines are fallen to me in pleasant places. Man and God fit each other like the two halves of a tally. You will never get rest nor satisfaction, and you will never be able to look at the past with thankfulness, nor at the present with repose, nor into the future with hope, unless you can say, 'God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

The one true, pure, abiding joy is to hold fellowship with God and to live in His love. The secret of all our unrest is the going out of our desires after earthly things. They fly forth from our hearts like Noah's raven, and nowhere amid all the weltering flood can find a resting-place. The secret of satisfied repose is to set our affections thoroughly on God. Then our wearied hearts, like Noah's dove returning to its rest, will fold their wings and nestle fast by the throne of God. Let me beseech you to choose God in Christ for your supreme good and highest portion; and having chosen, to cleave to your choice.

So shall you enter on possession of good that truly shall be yours, even 'that good part, which shall not be taken away from' you. And, lastly, remember that if you would have God, you must take Christ. He is the true Joshua, who puts us in possession of the inheritance. He brings God to you -- to your knowledge, to your love, to your will. He brings you to God, making it possible for your poor sinful souls to enter His presence by His blood; and for your spirits to possess that divine Guest.

Through Christ the Son you will receive power to become sons of God, and 'if children, then heirs, heirs of God,' because 'joint heirs with Christ. Jesus clearly told his followers the Kingdom of Heaven would be a place where individual saved believers would be rewarded according to their deeds. If you do a lot with what God has given you; you will get a greater reward in Heaven.

When writing to the believers in Rome, he used language very similar to the language used by Jesus:. Romans But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to every man according to his deeds…. Since we know from the scriptures God does not render salvation according to our deeds, what is it He is rendering?

He is rendering reward according to our deeds. This means as our deeds increase, our reward increases as well. Look at what Paul wrote to the Corinthians. He clearly told them their Salvation was built on Christ alone, but in addition to this, each of us, as saved Christians, also builds on this foundation of Salvation resulting in our reward in Heaven:. Paul clearly proclaims rewards are waiting for us as saved Christians.

But he is also clear about the fact some of us will receive more reward than others. Some will work here on earth to create something persevering and as a result will obtain an enduring reward in Heaven. Even the Old Testament speaks of this truth. Look at what Solomon says:. And does He not know it who keeps your soul? And will He not render to man according to his work? Jesus, Paul and Solomon are simply reflecting the heart of God when they tell us we will be saved by His work and rewarded by our work.

This comparison tells us something about how we can earn a reward. It appears our effort to bring people to the truth about God and tell them about His free gift of Salvation is rewarded by God in the next life.

Paul understood this. He expected heavenly reward. But he made it clear to the Thessalonians they were the reason why he expected this reward:. Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? For you are our glory and joy. Paul knew his work here on earth was important because it produced believers who would then someday join him in Heaven.

Paul understood what Daniel taught hundreds of years before: the more people you bring to Heaven, the greater your reward in Heaven will be. We are talking about the reward earned by those who are already saved freely by God. What kind of reward might we receive based on our work here on earth?

This is actually a very tough question to answer, as the Bible does not give us the clarity we might like on this issue. But there are several clues we can work from.

Popular quotes and proverbs on quality

So we know whatever it is God gives us, it will be something resulting in great joy. Maybe it will be different for each of us, who knows? But there is a reason to believe God has a particular way of rewarding his beloved. It appears God enjoys rewarding his Children with increased and valuable roles of responsibility! Look at the Apostles for a minute. Jesus told them their reward would be increased and more powerful responsibilities.

Sometimes we see responsibility here on earth as a burden , but in Heaven, when we are reunited with the God who gave us every talent we possess, His reward will be responsibilities maximizing our talents in such a way as to produce great joy. We will have a complete sense of our own significance and role in Heaven. Joy will be ours. But reward is another matter altogether.
