Happiness is the center around which success orbits. Happiness is the joy we feel striving after our potential.

Happiness is the meaning and goal of life, the principle and purpose of human existence. Happiness is the only wealth that doubles if you share it.

Happiness is to seek it. Happiness leads to success. Happiness lies in our freedom of choice and control of that choice. Happiness results from satisfactory love relationships, reliable and faithful friendships, the ability to enjoy the pleasures of life and a fulfilling and socially important work. Happiness, as before salvation, must be earned. Happiness: the extent to which an individual judge favorable his quality of life in general. Happy people feel in control of their lives.

Hard work without talent is a shame, but talent without hard work is a tragedy. Haste makes waste. Have a vision and translate that vision to everybody in the organization with passion and conviction. Have confidence: success will come with the involvement and effort of all! Have you got a problem? Do what you can where you are with what you've got. Having no problems is the biggest problem of all. He who asks a question may be a fool for five minutes, but he who never asks a question remains a fool forever.

He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches. He who doesn't risk never gets to drink champagne. He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how. He who has health is rich without knowing it. He who has no goals will not achieve them. Help the right people get the right information and they will do the right things. High-trust organizations are always high-purpose organizations. High-velocity organizations are constantly experimenting and learning more about all the work they do.

If the only tool you have is a hammer, everything starts to look loke a nail. If we add a man to a delayed project, it will only add delay. If we agree that the bottom line of life is happiness, not success, then it makes perfect sense to say that it is the journey that counts, not reaching the destination.

If we are able to conceive of a failure as an opportunity for growth, we are all the more likely to experience that growth. If we do not like the men and women who are entrusted to us, we are not in our place. If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.

If you believe everything you read, better not read. If you buy quality, you only cry once. If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. If you can't think of a purpose for the process, you should probably get rid of the process. If you cannot describe what you are doing as a process, you do not know what you're doing. If you close the door to all errors, truth will stay outside. If you do not know how to ask the right question, you discover nothing.

It is impossible that one is happy if one does not want to be; we must want happiness and do it. It is in the fundamental process of confrontation with the problems and their resolution, that life finds its meaning. It is in the whole process of meeting and solving problems that life has meaning. It is much easier to apologize than it is to get permission. It is necessary to know how to multiply the micro-conflicts to reach a macro-stability. It is not enough to do your best; you must know what to do, and THEN do your best.

It is not the employer who pays wages, it is the customer. It is not the strongest or the most intelligent that survive, but those that adapt best to changes.

Leaders don't need to be particularly charismatic to be effective. Leaders exercise tight control only on issues that affect the shared values of an organization. Leaders must all relate to this principle: the governed must be as happy as possible. Leaders own the responsibility for designing the context within which this desire for ownership takes place. Leaders who want to increase joy and success in the workplace must learn to take most of their personal satisfaction from the achievements of the people they lead, not from the power they exercise.

Root yourselves in God, making Him your truest treasure, and nothing can rob you of your wealth. We here in this commercial community see many examples of great fortunes and great businesses melting away like yesterday's snow. And surely the certain alternations of 'booms' and bad times might preach to some of you this lesson: Set not your hearts on that which can pass, but make your treasure that which no man can take from you.

Then, too, there is the other thought. God will help us so that no temptations shall have power to make us rob ourselves of our treasure. None can take it from us but ourselves, but we are so weak and surrounded by temptations so strong that we need Him to aid us if we are not to be beguiled by our own treacherous hearts into parting with our highest good. A handful of feeble Jews were nothing against the gigantic might of Assyria, or against the compacted strength of civilised Egypt; but there they stood, on their rocky mountains, defended, not by their own strength, but by the might of a present God.

And so, unfit to cope with the temptations round us as we are, if we cast ourselves upon His power and make Him our supreme delight, nothing shall be able to rob us of that possession and that sweetness. And there is just one last point that I would refer to here on this matter of our stable possession of God. It is very beautiful to observe that this psalm, which, in the language of my text, rises to the very height of spiritual and, in a good sense, mystical devotion, recognising God as the One Good for souls, is also one of the psalms which has the clearest utterance of the faith in immortality.

Just after the words of my text we read these others, in which the Old Testament confidence in a life beyond the grave reaches its very climax: 'Thou wilt not leave my soul in Sheol, neither wilt Thou suffer Thine holy one to see corruption. Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. The more we know that God is our portion and our treasure, the more sure, and calmly sure, we shall be that a thing like death cannot touch a thing like that, that the mere physical fact is far too small and insignificant a fact to have any power in such a region as that; that death can no more affect a man's relation to God, whom he has learned to love and trust, than you can cut thought or feeling with a knife.

The two belong to two different regions. Thus we have here the Old Testament faith in immortality shaping itself out of the Old Testament enjoyment of communion with God, with a present God. And you will find the very same process of thought in that seventy-third psalm, which stands in some respects side by side with this one as attaining the height of mystical devotion, joined with a very clear utterance of the faith in immortality: 'Whom have I in heaven but Thee, and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee!

Thou wilt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterwards receive me to glory. And his ministry is not to rob us of our treasures as he robs men of all treasures besides for 'their glory shall not descend after them' , but to give us instead of the 'earnest of the inheritance' -- the bit of turf by which we take possession of the estate -- the broad land in all the amplitude of its sweep, into our perpetual possession. And then the last thought here is that he who thus elects to find his treasure and delight in God is satisfied with his choice. I have no time to dwell upon the thoughts that spring from these words.

Take them in the barest outline. No man that makes the worse choice of earth instead of God, ever, in the retrospect, said: 'I have a goodly heritage. Portions of it may be fed with their appropriate satisfaction, but as long as we feed on the things of earth there will always be part of our being like an unfed tiger in a menagerie, growling for its prey, whilst its fellows are satisfied for the moment. You can no more give your heart rest and blessedness by pitching worldly things into it, than they could fill up Chat Moss, when they made the first Liverpool and Manchester Railway, by throwing in cartloads of earth.

The bog swallowed them and was none the nearer being filled. No man who takes the world for his portion ever said, 'The lines are fallen to me in pleasant places. Man and God fit each other like the two halves of a tally. You will never get rest nor satisfaction, and you will never be able to look at the past with thankfulness, nor at the present with repose, nor into the future with hope, unless you can say, 'God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

The one true, pure, abiding joy is to hold fellowship with God and to live in His love. The secret of all our unrest is the going out of our desires after earthly things. They fly forth from our hearts like Noah's raven, and nowhere amid all the weltering flood can find a resting-place. The secret of satisfied repose is to set our affections thoroughly on God. Then our wearied hearts, like Noah's dove returning to its rest, will fold their wings and nestle fast by the throne of God. Let me beseech you to choose God in Christ for your supreme good and highest portion; and having chosen, to cleave to your choice.

So shall you enter on possession of good that truly shall be yours, even 'that good part, which shall not be taken away from' you. And, lastly, remember that if you would have God, you must take Christ. He is the true Joshua, who puts us in possession of the inheritance. He brings God to you -- to your knowledge, to your love, to your will. He brings you to God, making it possible for your poor sinful souls to enter His presence by His blood; and for your spirits to possess that divine Guest.

Through Christ the Son you will receive power to become sons of God, and 'if children, then heirs, heirs of God,' because 'joint heirs with Christ. Jesus clearly told his followers the Kingdom of Heaven would be a place where individual saved believers would be rewarded according to their deeds. If you do a lot with what God has given you; you will get a greater reward in Heaven.

When writing to the believers in Rome, he used language very similar to the language used by Jesus:. Romans But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to every man according to his deeds…. Since we know from the scriptures God does not render salvation according to our deeds, what is it He is rendering?

He is rendering reward according to our deeds. This means as our deeds increase, our reward increases as well. Look at what Paul wrote to the Corinthians. He clearly told them their Salvation was built on Christ alone, but in addition to this, each of us, as saved Christians, also builds on this foundation of Salvation resulting in our reward in Heaven:. Paul clearly proclaims rewards are waiting for us as saved Christians.

But he is also clear about the fact some of us will receive more reward than others. Some will work here on earth to create something persevering and as a result will obtain an enduring reward in Heaven. Even the Old Testament speaks of this truth. Look at what Solomon says:. And does He not know it who keeps your soul? And will He not render to man according to his work? Jesus, Paul and Solomon are simply reflecting the heart of God when they tell us we will be saved by His work and rewarded by our work.

This comparison tells us something about how we can earn a reward. It appears our effort to bring people to the truth about God and tell them about His free gift of Salvation is rewarded by God in the next life.

Paul understood this. He expected heavenly reward. But he made it clear to the Thessalonians they were the reason why he expected this reward:. Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? For you are our glory and joy. Paul knew his work here on earth was important because it produced believers who would then someday join him in Heaven.

Paul understood what Daniel taught hundreds of years before: the more people you bring to Heaven, the greater your reward in Heaven will be. We are talking about the reward earned by those who are already saved freely by God. What kind of reward might we receive based on our work here on earth?

This is actually a very tough question to answer, as the Bible does not give us the clarity we might like on this issue. But there are several clues we can work from.
