This novel goes beyond just a love story. From the first paragraph I was hooked. The heartache of Emma's break up in the beginning saddened me. But, after she buys her red high heels, I pushed my fist up the air whispering "yes"! She made me feel empowered. Connecting with the characters, picturing what they look like, hearing their voices, feeling their every emotion Her life had changed completely and for the better.
I knew I am a sucker for love stories, but , wow! I knew from the very second she met Greyson, he was the one. They had to be together. The ups and downs of her "love" life had me going crazy. Happy one second and sad the next. It felt like she was never going to completely be happy.
But Greyson, oh Greyson! She had changed him.

Made him realize he wasn't actually living, just going through the motions. By the end I'm pretty sure I was in love with Greyson! My favorite part was the tension of their love. My heart was pounding by the end! My one and only complaint I could read their love story for the rest of my life! Seriously though, will their be another book?!!! So this was my go to read Saturday over Mother's Day weekend. I just want to say this was a great one Katie! You did a wonderful job of mixing simple country bumbkin with classy New York City to make it the real deal not just NYC on the ritz. I enjoyed the characters and the whole story kept me interested the whole way through.
You can completely I have had this book from the beautiful Katherine May for the past few weeks, and haven't had the time to read it, with the kids in a gazillion things. You can completely relate to these two girls and the men in their lives. And who doesn't love a book with a nemesis like twist. I couldn't put it down until I was finished, not even for a Mom moment. The only thing I can say bad about this is that I wish it was longer Would love to read Those white high heels Mar 06, Jane rated it it was amazing.
Her first book, Blackhill Ranch, was set in the rolling hills of Montana, so I figured we would have a similar story but boy was I wrong! It's a fast-paced, fun read, that will have you laughing out loud, but also have you questioning if Emma will have that happy ending. The storyline was thought out very well, and I also enjoyed that there was a book theme within the book.
A Brief but Important History of Weightlifting Shoes
I love reading stories like that. The characters were well developed, and it was fun to walk around Manhattan through Emma's eyes. It reinforced the idea to follow your heart, and to do what is true to you. Not to do what others expect you to do. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a fun, fresh read that will have you turning the pages until the very end. May 30, Lyndsay Marie rated it it was amazing. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. I think everybody needs that one pair of shoes that make them feel fearless. Those Red High Heels were the shoes for Emma, after a horrible day, she buys them to give herself a pick me up. This was a fun book, with witty banter. The characters were delightful for the most part, the one that was supposed to be the villain, was indeed a villain. Those Red High Heels was an easy read and very well written but, it didn't have much depth.
Every I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. Every once and a while that is what you need, especially when you have book hangover. I would have liked to see more into Greyson's head. It felt like the author was telling me most of the situations, instead of showing me. All in all, this was still a very enjoyable read. Jun 11, Tammy Albrecht rated it it was amazing. I really enjoyed this story. It was a very light hearted read with a predictable but happy ending.

Apr 12, Renee Bruning rated it it was amazing. I was so happy to get a book that I could really relate to the characters and the wonderful story line. I met my husband - my soul mate - in a similar fashion. Our connection was a box of CDs that were similar, including a limited release double CD that sealed our fate. I could totally relate to the crazy Nora and many of the other characters. I really loved the passion the author put into the characters. The way Emma didn't let herself get taken away by fame and fortune but stayed true to herself. What women wouldn't feel invincible in fabulous shoes!
Apr 10, Kelly Postert rated it it was amazing. Loved it I loved this book. As a reader I always try to guess where the author is taking their story. It had a nice fast pace that kept me engaged. I finished the book in one sitting. The characters where down to earth and were easy to get interested in. You wanted to see where the story was going because it's an easily believable story line. It made me want to go out and by a pair of red heels, hopefully I would have the same kind of luck to turn my life around. Buy the heel and the world will come. May 03, Alyssa rated it it was amazing. My regret with this book was that I started it too late at night and couldn't put it down until I finished it! I loved Emma's character. She is not your typical lead character in a romance book, pining after her ex or desired lover. She had a strong sense of self and independence that is so admirable that I kept cheering her on with every choice she made. I was worried that there would be some annoying cliches but it was so well written with many twists that kept me guessing. It was witty, captivating, and relatable - well, at least aside from the billionaire boyfriend and Manhattan best friends! Honestly, there were enough situations that you can see yourself having in this one and there are plenty of occurrences where you'll literally laugh out loud!

And then she tells the mob boss about her gift to try to keep him from killing her, and she finds herself reading the minds of his thugs and 'associates' for him. In fact, many things go wrong. Which results in a fun, madcap read. The book, I'll admit, has a rather In fact, it really suited Shelby well. It was also nice that Shelby had a solid relationship with her husband - this isn't a romance story, it's a story of devotion even when your wife is a little loopy and just put a square of tinfoil on her head.
I value that. I was in need of something shallow and adventurous with the occasional zings of humor, so this book was perfect. Sep 24, Katie rated it it was ok Shelves: did-not-finish. I usually love murder mysteries and sci-fi books that have a little more drama and action, but go for sillier reads pretty often especially when they're free Kindle books. I tried to get more into this book because I hate not finishing books, but I just wasn't into this one.
For me the main character, Shelby, is just not a very likeable character, I really like stronger female leads, or at least smarter ones. Shelby just seems to be jealous and a little dumb all the time, and her husband kind of comes off as a jerk that ignores her a lot of the time. I would hope if I got shot in the head my husband would at least stay home from work the next day! Shelby seems to keep making more trouble for herself and then just being clueless. I wish there was more to her character, it kind of reminds me of what my husband and I call 'lifetime stories', because almost every single movie on lifetime network has a helpless woman that either acts like an idiot which causes terrible things to happen, or just has constant terrible things happen to her.
As an earlier reviewer, Ruth, said 'Light and entertaining doesn't have to mean brainless. This story was something quite different for me but I enjoyed it. It was mainly let down from its 5th star because the author happens to be clueless with apostrophes. I'll be sticking with the Shelby series, though, because it's like nothing else I've read, really, and I liked the idea.
The ending was very good as well. I loved the character of Ramos and even warmed to Uncle Joe as well. Can't make up my mind about Shelby's Chris I look forward to seeing what occurs in the next book. The only bit I wasn't keen on was Shelby's persistence in calling a cop Dimples. That seemed a little silly. There were some properly amusing moments in it, though. I loved the cover on this book, too. This passage got messed up-"I'd barely hung up the phone when Then they'd probably want to stay as far away from me as possible. There are loads of apostrophe mistakes throughout, though Reveling should be revelling and burley should be burly and there was some missing punctuation-speechmarks or fullstops.
These should have been spotted and it's a pity they were overlooked. Here's hoping book 2 is tidier but still as good. There is love, but it isn't really a romance story Is there a "Cozy Suspense" genre Maybe I will read the e-book now and put my own voices to the characters!! I loved this book! Shelby always tries to do the right thing and somehow, trouble follows her. She's smart, sexy, soft hearted, funny and the kind of woman you would want for a best friend. The book keeps you guessing what will happen and has humor, romance, adventure wow! There are more books in this series and while you can read them out of order, I think it's fun to see how Shelby's relationships and skills grow.

All of the characters were vivid and fun, even the bad guys. Shelby is smart, thinks quick on her feet. The bad guys were everything from murderous robbers, mobster types and hitmen, to the new femme fatale in her husband's law firm. Shelby stood up to them all. It's easy when you know what they're thinking I'll probably read the whole series, eventually. An okay story, with an incredibly unlikeable main character.
She doesn't have an ounce of common sense rattling around in her head and she never learns her lesson. She is also extremely self-centered. Her husband and kids are just background notes that show up every now and then, and every interaction with her husband involves lying on her part. Oct 02, Tracy T. How to Find That Book You've Spent Years Looking For
Anyway, this supposedly "light" book, which I'm not sure why I came to that conclusion other than the fun artwork on the cover, wasn't light. It was a fairly fast and easy-to-read story. There was humor. However, deep down it was an interesting "who done it" mystery. Normally I do a pretty good job at figuring out plots, and I find most mysteries to be predictable. This one wasn't quite so easy, especially with just reading and not putting great thought into it. Throughout the story there are several little mysteries to solve, such as: is this person lying, who did this crime, what is the situation with that person, etc.
There was never a dull moment. I try to not reveal much of the plot because I'm concerned about not spoiling anything. Because of that I tend to be a little vague. Carrots, the vegetable, only plays a minor role in the book. If you aren't a fan of the vegetable, no worries; it's not as if you are reading a story about carrots.
The main character's name is Shelby. She's a wife and mother, but she seems to have a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The first wrong place was a grocery store, and the wrong time was when it was being robbed. Due to circumstances caused by that robbery, Shelby suddenly has the ability to read minds.
Instead of the author just illustrating how this is both a blessing and a curse, she develops a story around several interesting characters leaving the reader to wonder if Shelby will ever get out of this tangled mess that she is in due to her new abilities. The character development is strong. I found myself rooting for Shelby and shaking my head at the mistakes that she made which caused her to get into even worse situations.
Even the ultimate "bad guy" was, in the end, rather likable to me. There was one character, Ramos, who really had my attention. I wanted to read more about him. At this time I am uncertain as to whether the author has written a spin-off book featuring Ramos, but if she hasn't, I would certainly like to read more about him. Overall my opinion of this book is quite high. View 1 comment. May 17, Thenia rated it really liked it Shelves: series , reviewed , , contemporary , mystery , r-ab.
